Clear allWhat is ZMA?
ZMA is a combination of zinc, magnesium and vitamin B6. Products vary in the amount of each, and some add other ingredients, so check the label.
Magnesium has authorised claims, including "Magnesium contributes to a reduction of tiredness and fatigue" and "Magnesium contributes to normal muscle function", for products that are at least a source of magnesium (GB claims list). No sleep claim is authorised for ZMA.
How much zinc, magnesium and B6 is too much?
The NHS says do not take more than 25mg of zinc supplements a day unless advised to by a doctor, and that 400mg or less a day of magnesium from supplements is unlikely to cause any harm. For vitamin B6, the NHS says do not take more than 10mg a day in supplements unless advised to by a doctor.
Add up the amounts across everything you take, including multivitamins. Speak to your GP or pharmacist if you take medication or are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Why is casein in this collection?
Casein is a milk protein often taken in the evening. As a protein, it can carry the authorised claim "Protein contributes to the maintenance of muscle mass" where the food is at least a source of protein (GB claims list).
Compare casein on the cost per 25g of protein. See all casein protein.
