Strong
evidence for creatine monohydrate
Our honest take
A flavoured drink combining 5 g of creatine monohydrate with 3 g of HMB, vitamin D and some electrolyte salts. The creatine is a full dose and well supported. The HMB has much weaker evidence, especially in people who already train and eat enough protein, and it is the main reason this costs about three times as much per serving as plain creatine. If you just want creatine, buy it on its own.
- You want creatine and HMB in one flavoured drink
- You like the convenience of one scoop and accept paying extra for it
- Cost per dose matters: plain creatine is far cheaper
- You avoid sweeteners or artificial flavours
- You already take vitamin D: check your total intake
The science
Creatine monohydrate· evidence: Strong
Creatine monohydrate is the most studied sports supplement there is, with hundreds of controlled trials in people over more than 30 years. It is also the form used in almost all of that research, which is why we treat it as the benchmark other creatine forms have to beat.
The effect builds up as your muscle creatine stores fill, which takes roughly three to four weeks at a steady daily dose, or about a week if you choose to load. You do not need to load or to cycle off.
Research into other uses, such as effects on the brain or on mood, is at an early stage and not established, so we make no claims about them.
Creatine increases physical performance in successive bursts of short-term, high intensity exercise. The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 3 g of creatine.
Daily creatine consumption can enhance the effect of resistance training on muscle strength in adults over the age of 55 years. The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 3 g of creatine, together with resistance training that increases in workload over time and is repeated at least three times a week for several weeks, at an intensity of at least 65–75% of one repetition maximum.
Typical dose: 3–5 g a day, taken every day
Safety: Well tolerated by healthy adults at 3–5 g a day. Expect a small gain in body weight (water held in muscle) in the first weeks. Larger doses taken at once can upset the stomach. Creatine can raise creatinine on a blood test, so tell your doctor you take it. Speak to your GP first if you have a kidney condition.

HMB (beta-hydroxy beta-methylbutyrate)· evidence: Limited
HMB is made in the body from the amino acid leucine. It is marketed for muscle recovery and reducing muscle breakdown. Some early studies, mostly in people new to training, found benefits, but later reviews found the effect in already-trained people to be small or absent.
If you already eat enough protein and train regularly, do not expect a noticeable difference from HMB. There is no authorised health claim for it.
Typical dose: About 3 g a day
Safety: Generally well tolerated in studies at about 3 g a day.

What buyers are saying
Rated well on Amazon UK. Buyers most often praise the taste, especially the berry flavour, and say it mixes without clumping. Several feel their recovery is better, though that is hard to separate from the creatine. Complaints are that it is too sweet for some and quite acidic, and one buyer found it hard to take alongside other supplements.
Our own summary of the Amazon UK listing for this product (about 184 ratings, including reviews from other Amazon countries), read 9 October 2026. These are not SupplementHQ customer reviews, and we include the complaints as well as the praise.
