At a glance
Limited
evidence for mixed creatine forms
Our honest take
A flavoured creatine blend sold on the idea of mixing ten different creatine forms. We could not confirm from the label how much actual creatine is in a serving, and there is no good evidence that mixing forms beats plain creatine monohydrate. Per serving it is also one of the pricier ways to get creatine. Unless you specifically want this flavour, plain monohydrate is the safer, cheaper choice.
- You like the 5% Nutrition range and its flavours
- You want a single-serve sachet to try before buying a tub
- You want to know exactly how much creatine you get per serving
- Cost per dose matters: plain monohydrate is far cheaper
- You are sensitive to sweeteners or flavourings
The science
Mixed creatine forms· evidence: Limited
Some products mix several types of creatine, such as citrate, pyruvate, malate, magnesium chelate, ethyl ester or alpha-ketoglutarate, often under a branded blend name. The idea is that each form adds something, but there is no good evidence that a mix works better than the same amount of plain creatine monohydrate. One form, creatine ethyl ester, did worse than monohydrate in a controlled study because more of it broke down before reaching the muscle.
The main practical problem is that blends often do not say how much actual creatine you get, which makes it hard to check you reach 3 g a day.
Creatine increases physical performance in successive bursts of short-term, high intensity exercise. The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 3 g of creatine.
Typical dose: Enough to provide 3 g of creatine a day; check the label
Safety: Same general precautions as creatine monohydrate. Speak to your GP first if you have a kidney condition.
